Jay Rider Appointed as Vice-Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board

After more than three decades of practising labour and employment law—and over 24 years as a partner at CCPartners—Jay Rider is retiring from private practice to serve the public as Vice-Chair of the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB).
Jay joined our firm as a partner in October 2001, following five years of practice in Toronto, first with a large downtown law firm and then with a boutique labour and employment law firm. Over the course of his career, employers across a range of industries have trusted him for clear, strategic, and pragmatic advice on workplace and labour relations issues. He has regularly represented clients before the Ontario Labour Relations Board and the Canada Industrial Relations Board, as well as in collective bargaining, arbitrations, and other employment-related tribunals.
Beyond his advocacy work, Jay has consistently contributed to the profession, delivering workshops and seminars on high-impact issues for clients, as well as being a frequent contributor and presenter at various industry conferences and seminars. His ability to see – and help shape – the big picture, and his calm and measured approach, will serve him well in his next role.
On a personal level, Jay has been part of the heart and soul of CCPartners and has been instrumental in the firm’s success over the years. He has been a mentor to many and a friend to all, and he will be missed!
"Jay’s judgment, integrity, and deep knowledge of labour relations have shaped our firm and strengthened our clients for decades,” said Dave Chondon. “We are proud of his appointment and grateful for the leadership, mentorship, and professionalism he has brought to CCPartners throughout his career."
Please join us in congratulating Jay on an exceptional career in private practice and in wishing him every success as he begins this important next chapter in public service.
